What is Astronomy?

Astronomy is a SCIENCE.

It is the oldest of all sciences. It deals with the study of the universe and everything in in: galaxies, stars, moons, planets, quasars, blackholes and many other heavenly bodies.

Why do we study Astronomy?

Astronomy tells us about ourselves, where we came from, and what can happen to us. By studying Astronomy, we learn how the solar system was formed and when it was formed. We learn about what happens to stars like our Sun billions of years after it is formed. Studying Astronomy also helps us understand how life came about in the universe. These are just a few reasons. Each person who decide to study Astronomy has his own reasons for doing so.
